  1. Artist Name: Martin Johnson Heade
    Title: Twilight
    Date: 1886
    Medium: Oil on canvas
    Dimensions: 28 x 54 1/8 inches

This painting does not have any bright colors which makes it a very calm and chill piece to look at. Although there is a lot of detail in the land, trees, ect., the main focus of the picture is the sunset. That is where the brightest colors are used and still it is not even really bright. Since the sunset is in the center of the picture, it cause everything else to be dark because the light from the sun is hitting the side of the objects that we, the viewers, do not see. This also allows for the actual sunset to be the focal point. The water at the bottom looks very calm and the animals look calm also. The only reason that I can think why this painting would be called Twilight is because it is a painting of a sunset. I think that maybe this picture was painted because it was a place of significance to the artist or maybe even a place of imagination. After critiquing this piece, I still see the same thing and still get the same feeling from the piece. It is very relaxing to look at and I really like it.
