Frida Kahlo is the artist. This piece is very strange. It symbolizes an emotional "crisis" she was going through. As you see in the picture she is cutting the vain to the heart of her more tradtional side, as she tries to move foreward and leave the more traditional part of her for the more urban metropolitan side. This piece is more deep than I thought it was when i first looked at it. The more I analyze it the deeper the painting gets. At first i didnt really realize that the vain was connectiong both hearts. I think the bright white traditional dress really stands out and it is what catches my eye.
